Volunteers
Our programs, services and op shops are supported by a volunteer workforce of 1,072 volunteers, working across 70 different locations.
In 2019, volunteers donated more than 5,500 hours of time, skill and talent to BSL at a combined value of A$7.5 million.
In 2020, the onset of COVID-19 saw volunteers rapidly adapt to online service delivery, providing BSL program participants with the support they needed by remote means.
In regional Victoria, our stores volunteers adopted new cleaning and distancing protocols, while government advice for Metropolitan Melbourne required that we close stores, as well as discontinue face-to-face volunteering for aged care.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to connect with BSL despite the restrictions on their volunteer involvement. We also gratefully acknowledge the more than 200 volunteers who were able to continue volunteering, and who did so in unprecedented conditions.
BSL’s work relies on volunteers to provide the personal touch to our services and to reach more people in our communities. Thank you to each and every member of the volunteer workforce.
