After a two-year delay due to the pandemic, our Clifton Hill Aged Care Centre has officially opened.

A newly purpose-built residence designed to support older people's through the provision of quality, values-focused, person-centered aged care, originally opened its doors in February 2020. Unfortunately, this was also the start of the pandemic, and repeated lockdowns as well as COVID outbreaks have delayed the celebration of its opening until now.

The event commenced with a beautiful Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony performed by Wurundjeri Elder, Uncle Bill Nicholson. This was followed by a number of speakers, including an inspiring speech from Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, Ged Kearney about the Government's aged care reform agenda.

This celebration brought together people, past and present, who have been involved in the Centre's successful set up and operation including Aged Cares Services Interim Director, Lisa Rollinson and Residential Services Manager, Milly Kuranage, former Executive Director, Conny Lenneberg, Rob Hudson and Ian Paroissien who was Deputy Board Chair during the redevelopment as well as Mike James who formerly chaired the Redevelopment Committee.

Also in attendance were members of the BSL Board Members such as Stephen Newton AO, Jane Freemantle OAM, Michael Langhammer, Dana Hlavacek, and Stephen Duckett AM.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees were treated to guided tours, an afternoon tea and an art exhibition created by the residents during their Art Workshops led by Leah Bright.
