Friends for young and old
During Intergenerational Week (24-30 April), students from the local Primary School visited residents of our Clifton Hill Aged Care Residence.
To celebrate the special occasion and foster connection, our Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) team organised a petting zoo to the delight of the kids and elderly residents.
Nurturing these cross-generational friendships between the residents and the primary school students has been happening for some time. Over the last couple of years, each Friday at lunchtime, students from Clifton Hill Primary School have been heading across to our centre to play games and speak to some of the elderly residents.
Residential Services Manager, Milly Kuranage, said that “our residents absolutely love it, and it gives them a lot of enrichment into their daily lives.”
Both the kids and residents love these interactions, and for many it's the highlight of their week.
You can see their visit in the below video.
