Everyone is welcome to volunteer at our community stores

We have 21 community stores across Melbourne and in Geelong, and new volunteers are always welcome.

Ibrahim volunteers once a week at our soon-to-open Noble Park store. He is one of a group from the Dandenong disability support provider Burke and Beyond, which supports people with disability to gain work skills. They sort clothes and other donated items, arrange shop displays and check furniture is in good condition for sale.

Ibrahim is enjoying the role. ‘I like working here because I’m learning new skills and it will help me to get a job one day. I like working in a retail and warehouse environment,’ he says.

Store Manager Lino says being a store volunteer is a great way for people to connect with each other and contribute valuable skills. ‘I like to get everyone involved and have an enjoyable experience in our stores.

It’s all about giving back to the local community – connecting with our other Brotherhood services,’ he says.

‘Everyone is welcome to volunteer at our community stores if they have a few hours a week. We rely on our volunteers so we can assist people who do it tough in our community.’ Proceeds from our stores go towards our many programs supporting people facing disadvantage, such as those seeking work, people on low incomes, people with disability, seniors and refugees.
