From surplus to statement: Hunter Gatherer shines at Melbourne Fashion Week
Three years running, and what a show! Hunter Gatherer returned to Melbourne Fashion Week with a stunning new collection, closing the Cult Status Runway at the iconic State Library Victoria.
Unveiled on Wednesday 21 October, Reimagined Excess celebrated the extraordinary potential of what already exists, transforming surplus, deadstock and overlooked garments into bold, handcrafted designs.
Fluid silks, delicate lace, soft draping and deconstructed tailoring took centre stage. Feminine silhouettes met unexpected proportions, playful textures and beautifully imperfect details, bringing a little romance, a little rebellion and plenty of individuality to the runway.

Celebrating the people behind the collection
Behind the beautiful designs was an incredible commitment from our talented creative team, led by Carys and Sam, who dedicated countless hours to bringing their vision to life while balancing the demands of their everyday roles.
A special thank you to RMIT student volunteer Leila, BSL Op Shops volunteer Golsha and warehouse assistant Vanessa, whose creativity, skills and support helped make this collection possible.
More than a moment on the runway
As part of Brotherhood of St. Laurence's social enterprises, Hunter Gatherer and BSL Op Shops celebrate second-hand fashion while supporting our broader mission to help people experiencing disadvantage.
Our third consecutive appearance at Melbourne Fashion Week is an incredible achievement and an opportunity to showcase the creativity, craftsmanship and possibilities of circular fashion.
From surplus to statement, Reimagined Excess is a beautiful reminder that great style doesn't have to start with something new.
Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this extraordinary collection to life!
