Nicole Bieske

Director, Social Policy and Research Centre

Dr Nicole Bieske joined the Brotherhood of St. Laurence in 2023.

​Nicole has had an extensive career in social policy, advocacy and research with experience working in government, the community sector, academia and business.

Most recently, she was a Director at Homes Victoria. At Homes Victoria, she led work on a variety of issues across social and affordable housing, including a program to deliver housing for people living with mental illness, work on the Big Housing Build, and monitoring and evaluation. She is also Board Vice Chair of GenWest, an organisation that supports victim survivors of family violence in Melbourne’s west.

Nicole started her career as a lawyer before completing a PhD in international law (Human Rights). She has worked as an academic at Monash University, Head of Global Program for Transparency International and as the CEO for Inner Melbourne Community Legal. Nicole has also been Head of Public Policy and Advocacy for Oxfam Australia and served as International Board Chair of Amnesty International.
