Four-year study involving the Melbourne Institute of Economic and Social Research and the Brotherhood of St. Laurence

This study found that, relative to unemployment, low-paid employment on average helped disadvantaged jobseekers to improve their future labour market outcomes, but did not necessarily enable them to progress up the earnings scale.

The study was supported by an Australian Research Council linkage grant.
