This study of Victoria’s Energy Saver Incentive shows the energy savings achieved in relatively disadvantaged and advantaged areas in metropolitan Melbourne

Energy retailers are required to fund emissions reductions by purchasing certificates created by accredited operators making home energy efficiency improvements from new light globes to hot water service upgrades.

In the scheme’s first phase, disadvantaged suburbs received a greater share of the total activities but a smaller share of the costlier measures that have higher energy efficiency returns, such as hot water services, space heating and insulation.
