The Better Futures service is a new way of supporting young people who are making the transition from out-of-home care to independence.

Better Futures is a person-centred model which supports young people to thrive by aligning resources, opportunities and the community with their skills and aspirations.

BSL’s Youth team is working in partnership with the Victorian Department of Families Fairness and Housing (DFFH) to develop this new service delivery model.

We have developed the Better Futures Advantaged Thinking Practice Framework for state-wide service providers and co-facilitate the Community of Practice focused on driving continual practice development and collaboration across the government and the community services sector.

Access to service

BSL is not a Better Futures service provider. All eligible young people in care aged between 16 years and 18 years are referred to their local Better Futures provider

Young people aged 18 years and 21 can contact the Leaving Care hotline for their provider or see the Leaving Care Services website for further information.
