Volunteering at BSL
BSL Volunteers, supporting the community since 1930.
The commitment of volunteers has been instrumental to BSL’s success since we were founded in 1930.
Our origins in community volunteerism began with BSL’s founder, Father Gerard Tucker, an activist for social reform, and the dedicated people who supported his work. Those community members - who shared the same vision for an Australia free of poverty - came together, set their direction, and encouraged others in the community to contribute to this work.
Over 90 years later, our community continues to share the same values and motivations by supporting our work through volunteering.
Volunteers contribute in lots of different ways, and your involvement can take many form including;
- as a community store retailer
- a tutor or mentor supporting students, new migrants, and/or jobseekers
- a companion to the elderly
- an early childhood development assistant; or
- a professional advisor through our Board or governance Committees.
The contribution of volunteers to the work of BSL is important and deeply appreciated.
We look forward to you joining the team!
