Creating positive change for women’s economic security in communities around Australia.

Poverty affects men and women differently, and women are often more vulnerable to economic hardship due to lack of financial resources and limited choices. Developed in Seymour, a regional town with pockets of disadvantage and high levels of gendered violence,The SEED Project aims to show how research, policy, and community efforts can come together to improve women's economic security and financial wellbeing.

The SEED Model

The SEED model focuses on increasing women's financial wellbeing
across five core interrelated domains: inclusive work, economic security, social infrastructure, social equity, health and wellbeing.

The model comprises three key elements:

a Financial Wellbeing Hub for women
At SEED we empower women to speak up about what they need and support them to make changes that lead to building the life they aspire to. Our hub provides a safe community where women can share their stories, relate to similar experiences, and work with us to ensure that they receive the right support based on their needs and goals.

a Community Investment Committee (CIC)
Harnessing community efforts, the CIC has partnered with 10 member organisations with expertise in family services, health and wellbeing, financial counselling, disability, education, housing, and more to tackle identified barriers in the local area.

ongoing research, policy analysis and evaluation
Research and policy analysis supports the CIC and the program and informs advocacy from a local to national level.
